WireScreen Names Former National Intelligence Officer for China David O. Shullman as Strategic Advisor

NEW YORK, Oct. 5, 2026 — WireScreen, the premier China-focused risk intelligence platform, today announced that David O. Shullman, former National Intelligence Officer for China at the National Intelligence Council, has joined the company as a Strategic Advisor. Shullman was the principal intelligence advisor on China to senior U.S. officials and led the U.S. Intelligence Community’s strategic analysis on China.

‍

Shullman is currently vice president at the Asia Society Policy Institute. Earlier in his career, he served as Deputy National Intelligence Officer for East Asia and as a senior China analyst at the Central Intelligence Agency. Outside government, he was the founding director of the Atlantic Council’s Global China Hub and a senior advisor at the International Republican Institute. He has also held positions at Georgetown University and the Center for a New American Security.

‍

At WireScreen, Shullman will advise on national security strategy, emerging China-related priorities, and how its research and capabilities can best support the national security community.

‍

“David has spent much of his career at the center of U.S. intelligence and policy work on China,” said David Barboza, founder and CEO of WireScreen. “He knows the questions senior officials are asking, where the gaps are, and what kinds of information are actually useful. We’re excited to have him on board and to have his perspective as we make decisions about where to focus, what we build, and how we work with the national security community.”

‍

“Some of the hardest questions in national security start with basic facts that can be surprisingly difficult to establish — who owns a company, how organizations are connected, and where commercial activity intersects with broader strategic interests,” said Shullman. “I’ve seen firsthand how important it is to have reliable answers to those questions. I’m excited to work with WireScreen and help the team focus its capabilities and research on the questions that matter most to the national security community.”

‍

Shullman’s appointment follows the appointments earlier this year of David F. Helvey, Bryan S. Ware, and Wayne McCool to WireScreen’s Advisory Board. Their backgrounds span defense policy, cybersecurity, and intelligence analysis.
